The Papandayan was named after Papandayan Mountain . Located 70 km SE of Bandung and as one of Indonesia's tourist attractions. Numerous small vents are located within the crater, known as Kawah Mas, Kawah Baru, Kawah Nangklak and Kawah Manuk. The rainforest area in Papandayan mountains was established as a reserve on Feb 14 1924, with the total area of 884 Hectares.
